We teach Hebrew using the Montessori method. We begin by introducing basic vocabulary, spoken language, numbers, colors, as well as common terminology. This method provides the children with a wonderful exposure to Hebrew. Our program is bilingual and our staff members speak and sing to the children in Hebrew and English. Our Hebrew curriculum is divided into three stages: spoken language, letter recognition, and reading and writing. We teach Hebrew according to each child’s level so that each student can learn at their own pace.
Our Judaic program is integrated throughout the learning experience. Our curriculum helps each child find the joys and significance in Jewish tradition. We teach the concepts and ethics of the Torah through story telling, songs, art and drama. We expose children to an atmosphere that stresses the importance of middot tovot – good character traits– and emphasizes mitzvot – good deeds. Our program includes review and discussion of Jewish holidays, Shabbat and practices as they relate to young children. As part of our Judaic curriculum, we introduce the children to basic Tefillah – prayer – and blessings. Our teaching of Judaic studies is based on traditional sources.
Our calendar follows the Jewish Holidays throughout the year. We celebrate the High Holidays, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukot, Shmini Azeret, Pesach, Shavuot, Purim, Tu Bshvat, Lag B’Omer, Thanksgiving, Israel Independence Day and more. We express our relationship with the State of Israel through celebrations such as Yom HaAtzma’ut – Israeli Independence Day. We do not celebrate other religions’ holidays.
