Our students have been excitedly learning about and preparing for the upcoming holiday of Shavuot (if your student is in Elementary, ask them if they remember one of its other names!) They’ve learned about the Torah, harvesting wheat and the first fruits (Bikkurim), and about the special food we eat.
Rosh Hashanah has apples and honey.
Hanukkah has latkes and sufganiyot.
Pesach has matzah and maror.
Shavuot has
cheese.
Eating dairy is perhaps one of the most time-honored traditions of the holiday, connecting us historically, symbolically, and spiritually to Israel and our ancestors (community). Alef Bet loves to honor tradition, so to reinforce the value of connection, each class is preparing a dish to share with the entire school: Toddler made macaroni and cheese, Primary bakied cheesecake and Elementary made Pizza.
