Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy – Tu B’Shvat in Hebrew

Everyone in the class is ready to prepare a fruit salad. Celebrating the Festival of the Trees, we are ready to cut, peel and mix it all together.  Marking the holiday with a ryhm we learned in Hebrew, we prepared the fruit salad, planted seeds and watch them grow in our class. We dipped fruits in chocolate and made a granola bar.  We talked about the land of Israel, and what happens there, as the seasons are changing. We also learned about a special flower called Anemone כלנית, and how the south of Israel at this time of year is blossoming with hundreds of flowers.

Notice how the children are engaged in a daily activity, fascinated and intrigued by the work that they are doing. They are doing REAL work, and getting the pleasure of tasting it.  Rarely the hand of an adult will be added, to give some guidance. The tool we are using are Montessori approved child safe cutters and knives. See for yourself….
