Who doesn’t like chocolate balls. This Tuesday in our Hebrew Afternoon session (All in Hebrew) we were making Chocolate Balls. Our children get to experience the full activity. The most important part, as educators, is that we set the environment for the child to work: the spoons are set for their manipulation, the tools are ready for the children to use, the measuring cups are ready to be used and clean afterwards. And most importantly is that the activity follow simple stages, that a child can follow. Our children joy in accomplishing this task is unparalleled. Try this at home. Recipe and pictures are below.
Recipe for Chocolate Balls:
(25-30 tablets): A recipe for delicious and easy to make chocolate balls
300 grams biscuits crumble
8 dark chocolate cubes (30 grams)
50 g butter / margarine
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3-4 tablespoons of powdered sugar
Half a cup of milk / water
* Coconut for coating
Place the butter and chocolate cubes in a glass bowl and melt in the microwave for a few seconds. Remove and mix until you get a smooth chocolate mixture.
– Mix half a cup of milk (or water) with cocoa powder and sugar (note: it is recommended to mix the sugar and cocoa in several tablespoons of boiling water and then add milk / water to half a cup). After the sugar melts pour into the chocolate bowl.
- Add the biscuit crumbs and mix well.
– Using hands, create balls and dip in a small dish with coconut.
Wrap in plastic wrap and store in refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving.
