7 Ways to Bring Montessori Home

While our students are back in the classrooms, bringing the essence of the Montessori method home after school is a great way to instill the consistency of daily routines in our children. Allowing Montessori to be a lifestyle outside of class can help children to increase their growth within the classroom. “Help me do it by myself” is the life theme of the preschooler. Let’s take a look at a few ways to bring Montessori home:

  1. Ask your children if they can help sort groceries, including fruits and vegetables
  2. Task your children with clearing and setting the table as well as washing and cutting fruits/veggies
  3. Have your children help fold the clean laundry
  4. Allow your children to unpack and pack their bags each day
  5. When reading books to your children, have them flip through the pages themselves and hold the book properly
  6. Practice rhyming and language – for example, play “What starts with…? and What ends with…?”
  7. Practice tying shoe laces, buttoning buttons, and zipping and unzipping
